Birdsong Therapy

Welcome to Birdsong Therapy! I’m glad you are here.

I am a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC) with a Master of Counselling and an Honours Bachelor of Music, focusing on opera. I am also an avid bird-watcher, hence the name Birdsong Therapy!

My work as a therapist is rooted in a deep respect for the wisdom of our nervous systems. As someone who has had their own experiences with various mental health challenges, I understand that many of our ways of coping are rooted in survival. Being able to move through our lives in ways that are more aligned with our personal values often requires connection with others and a feeling of safety (or being “safe-enough”) within ourselves. I hope to offer you support in achieving this in our time together. Through the process of therapy, I am deeply honoured to witness people offering themselves more compassion, respect, and understanding.

I am passionate about creating spaces where people can express themselves authentically, and engage in practices that make meaning out of their unique experiences. As such, I regularly use narrative therapy and expressive arts techniques. I also draw from CBT and DBT to provide concrete coping tools. In practice, this could look like painting and drawing, listening to music, making music, (and maybe even dancing!) in session, alongside conversation of course!

It is clear that we are navigating challenging times as a society. In the face of this, I believe that celebrating diversity is more important than ever, and I recognize the decision to engage in therapy as a radical act of resistance against systems of oppression. I am dedicated to meeting you where you are, and collaborating on solutions that fit into your own life. You are the expert of your story!

I accept couples and individuals over the age of 16 seeking support in areas including, but not limited to substance use, OCD, anxiety, depression, trauma, sex and sexuality and self-esteem.

If my approach resonates with you, please feel free to book a free 30-minute consultation to see if we are a good fit!
