Julia Kovacova (She/Her), Registered Provisional Psychologist

Julia Kovacova Counselling

People often come to therapy when something feels heavy, confusing, or stuck. You don’t have to navigate those experiences alone!

I'm Julia, a Registered Provisional Psychologist. I work with adults and couples and can support you with concerns including mood and anxiety difficulties, emotional regulation, trauma‑related experiences, grief and loss, and patterns like perfectionism, people‑pleasing, and self‑esteem challenges.

I can also provide support if you are looking to increase closeness or improve communication and conflict management in your relationship.

My approach is warm, non-judgmental, and authentic. I believe in "real vibes only" and view therapy as a space where you can feel supported, have space to explore and make sense of your feelings, learn coping skills, and figure out a way forward that is aligned with what is most important to you. I'll also gently challenge you when it's helpful.

I see therapy as a collaborative process and tailor my work to your needs and preferences, following what feels most helpful and supportive. I draw from therapeutic approaches such as Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT), the Gottman method, and mindfulness-based strategies.

If you have questions or would like to book a complimentary consultation, I’d be happy to connect!

Personal Interests:

In my free time, I like to play video games, create art, watch something funny, play guitar, and spend a disproportionate amount of time thinking about my next latte. I also enjoy being surrounded by nature and took up paddleboarding recently. I'm a proud repeat beginner at the gym.

I share my life with a sassy 13-year-old Jack Russell Terrier named Eddie, who can sneeze and chase his tail on command. He looks just like the one from that show about a radio therapist and his dog! :)

I am originally from Europe and have been in Canada for almost a decade now, some of that time in Calgary. At what point do I become cold-resistant?
