New Perspectives Psychology

Hello and welcome!

I am a Registered Provisional Psychologist in Edmonton, Alberta. I have been working in the mental health field, in various roles, for over 5 years now. I started out in non-profit crisis centres and have since moved into private practice. It has been my honour and privilege to work with people of all backgrounds over the years, and I am so grateful to be able to provide support to those who seek it! Walking alongside others on their path to self-discovery, healing, and growth is something I have always been passionate about.

My approach tends to be quite integrative, and person-centered, balancing between looking at smaller details of your experiences and stepping back to see the bigger picture. I also appreciate a holistic approach that looks at all aspects of life and well-being. Collaboration is another big part of the way I practice, and I always strive to create an inclusive, respectful, and welcoming environment, where you can show up as your authentic self. I often pull from multiple therapeutic approaches and modalities, adapting my style to work with you in the way that best supports your therapeutic goals and journey.

I am currently accepting new clients for in-person and virtual sessions. For in-person sessions, I have an office in Edmonton, AB, and for virtual sessions I am able to see people across Alberta, as well as in Nova Scotia.

To get started, please book a free consultation. I offer a complimentary 45-minute consultation for all new clients so that we can get to know one another. During our consultation, we can talk about what brings you to therapy, any hopes and worries you might have about therapy, and overall get a feel for if we’re a good fit and what it would be like to work together. You can book your consultation by clicking the booking link below. If you have any questions or would like more information, please connect with me directly at rachel@newperspectivespsychology.ca

Personal Interests:

Anybody who knows me knows that I am a huge introvert, but also that I can be a bit of a chaos gremlin hahah! I absolutely love spending time reading, listening to music, and watching too many shows and movies (right now I’m on a major anime kick, so any recommendations are fully welcome). Although it's a bit of an expensive hobby, I also truly enjoy getting new piercings and tattoos whenever I am able to. Despite being a socially anxious overthinker and enjoying the homebody life, I also absolutely love travelling and attending concerts for my favourite artists (if they would start coming to Edmonton that would be great though)

Through my own journey, I have come to realize that it is so important to listen to yourself and what your mind, body, and soul are in need of in order to best nurture yourself! Although I must admit balance has never been my thing, I have embraced chaotic self-care, changing how I care for myself depending on what I need in the moment. This shift in perspective has been so beneficial for me, allowing me to engage in self-care in a way that works for me without feeling like I'm doing it 'wrong'.
