Lyndel Berry (She/Her), Registered Professional Counsellor-Candidate

Lorikeet Counselling

Hi, I'm Lyndel. I'm the therapist for people who haven’t always had the best experiences with therapy.

If you've ever walked away from a session feeling unseen, judged, or more confused than when you walked in, I want you to know—therapy doesn't have to be like that. I get how hard it is to talk to a stranger about everything you've kept locked inside. But healing often starts with being heard, and therapy is meant to be a space where you feel safe, understood, and challenged—in a good way.

Sometimes clients come to me and they don’t have the words for what they’re feeling or what they need. That’s okay. Finding language for your inner experience is a skill, and it’s one I can help you build. I will always respect the boundaries you set, but I’m also not afraid to ask the hard questions—the ones that help you recognize when you might be standing in your own way. The only way to get different outcomes is to make different choices. But first, you have to see that you have choices. That work can be uncomfortable, but you won’t be doing it alone. I can be your safe space and your support.

I don’t believe in one-size-fits-all therapy. I use what works for you. I practice from a client-centered, trauma-informed, and anti-oppressive lens. Modalities I draw from include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Relational Life Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), and the Gottman Method. I’ve also begun training in Internal Family Systems (IFS), Narrative Therapy, and Psychedelic-Assisted Therapy. I value lifelong learning—so as my skills evolve, my work with clients does too.

Therapy

I specialise in people who haven't had the best experience with therapists, usually those who have CPTSD/PTSD, SA survivors, those diagnosed with mood disorders, Men who struggle with relational awareness and emotional language, and also with people involved in alternative relationship structures like Polyamory and Mono-Poly. Adult individuals and couples are my primary focus.

Personal Interests:

I've been practicing polyamory for over 14yrs, so I'm experienced in the nuances of non-monogamy dynamics. So I'm not just poly friendly, I can help you grow in your relationship orientation.

I'm an Australian who's been living in Canada for 15yrs with now adult children, but I've lived in 5 different countries in my life.

I love the water and the mountains - summer is spent on the nearest lake on my paddleboard, and winter is spent chasing my kids down the ski hills!

An interesting fact about me is I've been competitive in powerlifting and BJJ and have provincial medals in both sports.
