Supporting First Responders - VIRTUAL workshop

$250.00

I’m so pleased to share I have the VIRTUAL date for this workshop (previously offered in person on Dec 14th). So many of you requested a virtual offering which is so great!!!!!

FEB 22nd

12-3pm

VIRTUAL (Zoom)

This is a workshop for all therapists (at any stage in your career journey - eg graduate interns welcome always!) who work with first responders and/or want to work with first responders and wish to build your culture competence and skills.

This is NOT PTSD 101 - this is about the cultural and systemic challenges, this is about the real day to day these clients face as soooooo many show up in my office and comment how they were referred to me because they’ve been told “I get it” and they’re so relieved or grateful to NOT have to explain their jobs.

There are so many nuances and discernments in this work and I’ve been so so honoured to be a trusted and respected provider for first responders

My background

My current practice is largely first responders/frontline workers - I am honoured to be a trusted go to referral source and to be able to support my peeps

I completed my graduate internship and provisional hours largely focused on supporting first responders

I’ve done in vivo exposure therapy throughout the city (eg on c trains, in morgues, on location at scenes etc).

I havepresented at CIMHVR and spoken to the top management at CPS, Fire and EMS throughout the province advocating for greater first responder mental health supports

I am the lead psychologist for the Nakoda EMS mental health psych support program

I am a VAC provider and liaise with the OSI clinic regularly

I have provided psychological supports on major critical incidents (MCIs) throughout the city

I have provided front line psych support responses during major emergency events

I ran a TPI program (WCB) - traumatic psychological injury & have conducted numerous TPI assessments

I’ve competed numerous trainings on psyched and modalities for supporting first responders - but truly the biggest thing is understanding nuances, lingo, work/systemtic cultural elements at play
