Hi team,
Convos with clients and consultation sessions prompted me to want to offer this more widely!
I have lived experience with multiple chronic conditions (AS, a genitopelvic pain condition and now cancer), my first masters SSHRC funded research thesis was on the lived experience of young women living with invisible chronic illness, and I have worked primarily in the area of injury, pain, medical trauma from my practicum to today, I know all to well the ways healthcare professionals are too quick to invalidate and actually cause harm to clients when trying to apply nice neat textbook training and modalities to our lives and experiences.
I have had too many clients (present and past) end up in my office not only trying to process and cope with their medical/complex/pain situations BUT ALSO process HARMS DONE BY THERAPISTS, doctors, nurses, friends family, employers etc
This workshop is offered to help those wanting to work in this area specifically AND the general practitioner as you will undoubtedly meet folx with chronic illness/injury, medical trauma (eg from child birth is a very common one), and more
Registration will be posted noon on Wednesday March 11th
Yay! Cannot wait to learn and unlearn with you!!
